MARIA MARVELS-STUBBS
Maria Marvels Stubbs is a dedicated mother, proud grandmother, devoted community service leader, three-time cancer WARRIOR and the founder of The Pink Victory Organization. Pink Victory is non-profit, service organization that provides breast cancer information and support to underserved communities.
Maria battled breast cancer in 2002, 2006 and 2017. Through many treatments, surgeries, hospital stays, rehabilitations and more, Maria stands as a shining example that miracles do indeed happen. If you ever speak with this wonderful woman of faith, you will understand that she gives God all of the honor for her miraculous recovery journey and notes that God’s favor is the primary reason that she has survived three bouts of metastatic breast cancer. Her faith in God has been the guiding force in her life and she shares messages of love, hope and support with anyone who needs to hear it. This mighty woman of God notes that, “It was a rough journey for me, but God saw me through. I have learned that if you trust in God, his light will shine in magical ways… because at the end of the day, it’s all in his hands”. Maria also honors the doctors, nurses and medical professionals who walked through this journey with her, because they were key in the process.
Maria’s most difficult battle, in 2017, found her in surgery for over eight hours, in the hospital for six days and in a nursing home for recovery and rehabilitation for almost three months. But through this physically and mentally challenging process, the seed for Pink Victory was planted. While in recovery, Maria began developing Pink Victory and she hasn’t looked back since. She understands that early detection can helps save lives and she wants to ensure that everyone, no matter where you live or what your income level is, has access to the same breast cancer information. The community service leader saw the need to offer information and services to under-served communities, and began having annual events within the community. The pandemic forced the organization to halt services for a while, but Pink Victory has re-launched and has now grown from a small grass roots event to a formal service organization.
The Pink Victory Organization has rolled out various services, projects and events that are sure to allow the organization to impact many more people. The annual Pink Victory Celebration Luncheon takes place on the first Saturday in October and is a “must attend” annual event! All stages of Breast Cancer warriors, loved ones and caregivers come together to socialize, take pics, eat, have fun and CELEBRATE LIFE with each other! Pink Victory is kicking off it’s Self Check Saturday quarterly series on November 18TH with a fun and informative session about early detection techniques and detailed information about various topics related to breast cancer. This fun and information virtual event is sure to inform and uplift. The Pink Victory Fireside Chat speakers series will begin in 2024 and will include dynamic speakers, covering a wide range of topics and an interactive Q&A session. Maria notes that so much more is planned for 2024 and beyond… this is just the beginning.
This power-house Warrior understands that her story is unique and she wants to use her experiences and painful journey to help someone else. That is why she always leads with her company motto: Get your annual mammograms. Because it’s better to be squeezed…. than cut! God Bless You.
